Welcome to El Rincón de Chavita, a proudly family-owned Mexican restaurant serving authentic, made-from-scratch flavors to the Houston community since 2021. But our story really begins much earlier, rooted in family tradition and a true love for culinary craftsmanship.
The soul of our menu comes from our head chef, Salvador Ramirez (affectionately known as "Chavita"). Salvador's culinary journey began when he was just 11 years old. His mother would send him to the vibrant local farmers markets to carefully hand-pick fresh ingredients, giving him a hands-on appreciation for the raw materials that make up a hearty, soulful meal. Back at home, he stood right by his mother’s side at the stove, learning the traditional art of creating authentic food from a very young age.
Salvador’s professional career in the restaurant industry started at the very bottom—as a dishwasher. Over the years, he worked his way up, dedicating himself to mastering every single aspect of the back-of-the-house. It was also in the restaurant industry where he met his wife and business partner, Liz.
While Salvador commanded the kitchen, Liz was a natural server who mastered the front of the house. With her deep expertise in hospitality, customer service, floor management, and restaurant finances, they realized they were the perfect team.
In 2021, Salvador and Liz turned their shared dream into a reality, opening their very first restaurant tucked into the corner of an office building at 150 W Parker Road in Houston. Today, El Rincón de Chavita is the perfect balance of Salvador's back-of-house culinary mastery and Liz's front-of-house warmth and hospitality.
